Roof protection against wake turbulence

Content

The precautionary program for securing roofs against wake vortices is aimed at the owners of buildings in the claim areas in Friedrichshafen and Meckenbeuren in accordance with the amendment to the aviation permit for Friedrichshafen Airport dated 19.10.2015.

The exact claim areas are published in the report “Assessment of the dangers of wake vortices at Friedrichshafen Airport” dated 24.02.2015. On the basis of this report, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the state of Baden-Württemberg has defined precisely defined areas in the municipalities of Friedrichshafen and Meckenbeuren as claim areas in which the owners of these buildings can, under certain conditions, demand that roof coverings be secured against gusts of wind caused by wake vortices by means of bracing or snow guards.

The areas to which the precautionary program applies can be found on these non-binding maps for Meckenbeuren and Friedrichshafen.
