Questions & answers – For passengers & visitors

Sharp and pointed objects such as knives, scissors or tools, weapons, toy weapons and similar objects may not be transported in carry-on baggage.
For a detailed list of these items, please go to the website of the European Commision for mobility and transport.
If you have any questions, the employees working at the baggage drop-off counter or your airline will gladly help you.

Since November 2006, additional safety regulations have applied to the transport of liquids in hand luggage. These include all types of drinks, foams, deodorants, perfumes, pastes (such as toothpaste or lotions), shampoos, creams, sprays, soups, syrups and oils. So are items of similar consistency, for example, liquid mascara or lip gloss.
A container to be transported must not contain more than 100 milliliters of liquid. It must also be packed in a transparent, resealable 1-liter bag – for example, a freezer bag with a zip closure – and be completely closed. Exceptions apply to medications and baby food: you may take these without a bag.
Please take only one – not several – bags with you on your flight. This bag must be presented separately at the security checkpoint. However, you may continue to carry duty-free items purchased at EU airports or on board the aircraft of an EU airline, provided they are in a transparent and sealed bag.

If you are in possession of items classified as dangerous, we will send these items to you or to an acquaintance of yours for a 5.00 euro fee upon request. You can find envelopes and a mailbox directly at the security checkpoint. Please understand that we cannot ship hazardous materials or lighters.

The baggage rules – and therefore the amount of baggage that can be checked without a fee – vary depending on the airline, travel class as well as on flights to the USA or Canada. You can obtain the permissible number of baggage pieces or weight from the respective airline; this information can also be found on your travel documents.

An excess baggage rate is applied per kilogram if the allowed baggage limit is exceeded. Your airline will gladly inform you of the precise rates.

Our tip:
Always write your name and address on your baggage. Tags and stickers for this purpose are provided with your flight ticket or can be found at the departure counter. It is best to use our baggage carts to conveniently transport your baggage. These can be found in the car parks, outside of the terminal, at the bus and train stations as well as at the baggage conveyor belt.

A separate bulky baggage counter is available for your bulky items.

The bulky baggage counter can be found in the terminal at check-in counter 14. Please report any bulky baggage or animal transport to your airline in a timely manner before the start of your journey.

By the way, you can also take prams up to a certain size as carry-on baggage if they fit through the scanner at the security check. Otherwise, simply check the pram as baggage.

Please inform yourself about the check-in times at your airline.

Currently a early check-in on the evening before is not possible.
