AZEA “Alliance for Zero-Emission Aviation”

Friedrichshafen Airport has been a member of the Alliance for Zero-Emission Aviation (AZEA) since 2022; this alliance was initiated by the European Commission. It is aimed at private and public stakeholders in the aviation industry and is intended to help prepare for the commercial use of hydrogen-powered and electric aircraft. The aim of the alliance is to find joint solutions to the challenges of zero-emission aviation and to pave the way for the next generation of sustainable aircraft.

Airport Industry Net Zero 2050 Resolution

In 2023, Lake Constance Airport signed the ambitious ACI EUROPE Resolution, which now includes over 300 other European airports.
The declared goal is CO2 neutrality by 2050 at the latest; many airports, including Friedrichshafen Airport, want to achieve CO2 neutrality much earlier.

Toulouse Declaration

In 2022, Lake Constance Airport signed the ambitious “Toulouse Declaration” together with 75 other European airports and airport associations, thereby committing itself to practising sustainability and moving towards CO2 neutrality.

Energy efficiency and climate protection networks initiative

The airport continues to pursue the goals of the energy efficiency networks initiative, initiated by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety. The airport has been active in the “IHK-Energieimpuls-Netzwerk Bodensee-Oberschwaben” network managed by the IHK since 2014. The focus here is on reducing the energy consumption of all participating companies.

Corporate Climate Protection Network

We are a founding member of the DIHK’s climate protection platform, which was launched in 2022, and thus promote awareness for more climate protection within companies. As a member of the Corporate Climate Protection Network, we are aware of the challenges of climate change and want to make an active contribution to achieving climate protection targets.

Humedica

Since August 2016, Lake Constance Airport has been running a special support campaign for the aid organization humedica e.V., headquartered in Kaufbeuren (Bavaria), an international non-governmental organization that provides humanitarian aid in over 90 countries worldwide. Passengers can throw their returnable bottles into special collection containers both in front of the security checkpoint and in the terminal building.
